animal digest

Animal digest is made by hydrolyzing animal tissue and is often sprayed on kibble for aroma. Labels don't have to name the species or source, so quality is hard to trace. FDA investigations of dog food linked pentobarbital (an animal euthanasia drug) detections to ingredients such as meat and bone meal, beef and bone meal, animal fat, and animal digest. Prefer products that name specific sources.

Other common names: digest, 動物水解物, アニマルダイジェスト
