Blue 2
An artificial blue dye (indigo carmine). A 1985 rat study found more brain gliomas in high-dose male rats, but the US FDA judged this not biologically significant and it remains approved. Colors add no nutritional benefit for pets, so dyes are unnecessary in pet food.
