Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine (methylxanthines), which cats and dogs metabolize very slowly. It can cause vomiting, a racing heart, arrhythmias, tremors, and seizures. Cocoa powder, unsweetened baking chocolate, and dark chocolate are the most concentrated and most dangerous.
