Dicalcium phosphate is one of the most common calcium and phosphorus sources in pet food and is a legal, widely used mineral ingredient. It is less soluble than sodium or potassium phosphates but still adds to total phosphorus. Healthy pets do not need to avoid it; cats and dogs with chronic kidney disease (CKD) should choose low-phosphorus diets.
