dl-methionine

DL-methionine is a sulfur amino acid supplement used to meet essential amino acid needs and often to acidify urine. Normal formulation levels are safe, but studies show excess methionine can cause methemoglobinemia and Heinz body hemolytic anemia in cats, and high-dose methionine supplements are not recommended for kittens.
