corn byproducts

Grain byproducts (corn byproducts, wheat bran, rice bran, distillers grains) are common low-cost ingredients that can develop mycotoxins such as aflatoxin (from Aspergillus molds) and vomitoxin (DON) when stored poorly. In 2020–2021, Sportmix and related US brands were recalled for high aflatoxin; by August 2021 the FDA counted more than 130 pet deaths and 220 illnesses possibly linked (not all confirmed). Choose brands with good quality-control records.

Other common names: corn by-products, grain byproducts, grain by-products, wheat byproducts, wheat by-products, rice bran, brewer's grain, distillers dried grains, DDGS, brewers dried grains with solubles, 玉米副產品, 穀物副產品, 米糠, 發酵穀物
