Pancreas · PL / fPL
Pancreatic lipase (PL / fPL)
A pancreatic-inflammation clue; assay names, methods and units are not interchangeable.
This site does not list fixed normal values: reference ranges differ by analyzer and method, so always use the range printed on your report.
Related clinical questions
Pancreatic markers help assess whether the pancreas contributes to the current clinical problem.
Why this marker matters
Catalyst PL uses U/L; Spec fPL uses µg/L; SNAP fPL is qualitative. These are not one numerical scale.
Interpretation limits
Interpret with appetite, vomiting, pain and imaging. Confirm the method behind PL/QPL abbreviations with the clinic.
Tests to read alongside it
Physical exam, CBC, chemistry, urine testing and indicated abdominal imaging; consider other organ disease too.
Questions at follow-up
Ask which assay was used and whether imaging or a recheck is needed. Do not self-diagnose or adjust treatment.
