A cat’s veterinary visit: carrier, travel and records
Edited by MaxTeng · Educational content, not reviewed by a veterinarian ·
Plan routine practice, appointment questions and transport separately.
Before the visit
Keep a secure carrier with familiar bedding available at home. Familiarization takes individual time; do not delay emergency care to finish training.
Ask the clinic
Confirm fasting, sample collection and usual medication instructions. Ask about prescribed pre-visit help if needed. Bring prior results, medication details, observed changes and questions; do not use another animal’s medication.
Transport and waiting
Support and secure the carrier, preserve ventilation and follow clinic instructions. Do not let the cat roam in the vehicle or open the carrier in an unfamiliar waiting room.
Products and follow-up
If using a pheromone product, follow its specific label and veterinary advice; never spray the cat or an occupied carrier. There is no universal wait time for all products. Before leaving, confirm home care and return instructions.
