Unbaked active yeast or raw dough keeps fermenting in the warm stomach, producing alcohol (which can cause alcohol poisoning) and gas (which causes bloating). The ASPCA lists raw yeast dough as dangerous to pets, and large dogs also face a potentially fatal risk of gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV). Baked yeast and brewer's yeast powder are not covered by this warning.
